Bill
and Cathy McArthur on
the Road 2010: 10
Monday, March 8, Cathy went to her exercise class and the gym. Bill worked most of the morning on tutoring preparation. Then, he discovered that his student, Francisco, had called to cancel the scheduled noon session. Cathy's tutoring session had also been canceled. After lunch, we helped our friend Marty with her new laptop computer. Bill also worked on his new laptop. We made a short visit to the wine and cheese party where Cathy rode one of the toy horses. Then, we ate an early dinner and headed over to the clubhouse to help set up for the Ladies Luncheon on Tuesday. When we returned, Cathy made her rich chocolate dessert for the luncheon. We caught up on some of our recorded TV shows.
Tuesday, Bill headed out for a 20 mile, 5 hour power paddle. Cathy did her exercise class and then went to the Ladies Luncheon, where she was one of the hostesses. Cathy had a tutoring session during the late afternoon. We ate dinner and caught up with some recorded TV.
Wednesday, Bill went for a 3 mile run while Cathy went to her exercise class and a breakfast for Fran. Cathy did the laundry. We picked up Jack and Sue at 5:30 PM and went to Stonewood Grill for a good dinner. We were almost late for "The Beast of Broadway", a one man play at the Community High School.
Thursday, Bill worked on his new computer in the morning. Cathy went to her exercise class and the gym. It rained off and on. Bill ate an early lunch and then drove to his tutoring session. We went shopping at Starbucks and Publix. Bill had a quinoa flake dinner; Cathy had pizza.
Friday was a mostly rainy and stormy day. Cathy went to her exercise class. Bill worked on his report for his week of kayaking/camping. After lunch, Bill dropped Cathy at the library for her tutoring session. Bill went to Borders to buy a copy of "The Old Man and the Sea" for tutoring. He also went to the Trek Bicycle Shop to buy a couple of packs of bottle size sport drink powder for the Atlanta Marathon. He gassed the XTerra and headed back to the library. We tried to go to a 4:30 PM movie, but both films being shown around that time were sold out. We stopped by Walmarts for a RedBox dvd on the way back to the campground. We ate a pasta dinner and viewed "Precious", which we both found moving and good filmmaking. We viewed an episode of "24" before bedtime.
Saturday morning, Cathy awoke with a sore back. Bill went for a 3.5 mile walk and then went to Walmart to drop off a dvd and to shop at Starbucks and Publix. After lunch we lollygagged around, sitting in the sun and relaxing. We went to Bonefish Grill for dinner and sat at the bar. We discovered that Grouper is off of the menu, so we settled for Sea Bass. We viewed a weak Bill Maher show before turning in.
Sunday was a warm and sunny day with a pesky wind. Bill went out for a very easy 5 mile run. He averaged 10:44 min/mile over the outing and was proud of his discipline. Cathy went for a 3.5 mile walk. We went to Starbucks and Publix afterward. We ate lunch outside. After lunch, we drove by Avion Court Townhouses and then to Walmart to buy Bill another pair of sunglasses after a second pair got broken mysteriously. Then we drove to Freedom Park and walked the boardwalk for a while. We talked with Son Bill before walking. Later, we drove to Sports Authority, looking for tie-down anchors for our awning. We moved on to Home Depot and bought two anchors to replace the anchors that Bill left behind on the kayak/camping trip. We returned to the RV and installed the anchors and put out the awning for the first time in quite a while. We viewed the Rock Creek 2010 DVD in the clubhouse and bought a copy for $10. The highlights for us were Cathy as Minnie Pearl and in Boot Camp in the Mardi Gras Parade. Another sort of highlight was Bill as the "Camp Follower." We returned to cook a quinoa flake meal and grilled chicken. We watched the NCAA Tournament selection shows on CBS and ESPN and once again were reminded that ESPN is the best at sports analysis.
