Bill and Cathy McArthur Spring/Summer/Fall 2009: 7
Monday, June 22 , was another day of unsettled weather. It rained off and on during the day. Bill drove Cathy to our dentist in Cape May and then to her oral surgeon in Cape May Court House. He did two crossword puzzles in the parking lot while waiting. We stopped by ACME afterward to fill a prescription for an antibiotic. After lunch, Bill worked on setting up DirecTV on our computer network. Later in the afternoon, we walked along the Bay and just made it back before a downpour. We viewed "The Happening" on DVR - Bill liked it because he had always liked Science Fiction. Surprisingly, we had a beautiful sunset after a lousy day of weather.
Tuesday was a mostly cloudy day with couple of sprinkles. Bill went out for a 5K run (9:06 per mile) and a 4 mile walk. Cathy went to our dentist while Bill did some statistics tutoring with Jim Sosna's daughter Leah. After lunch, Bill went out on a 6 mile kayak paddle to the canal. Cathy drove to the gym for the 5:30 aerobics class. Bill rode his bike to the gym to join Cathy in the new 6:30 Zumba class. Bill rode his bike home and had a quick shower before a beautiful sunset. We viewed "Hancock" on DVR. Bill enjoyed seeing Charlise Theron without extra pounds or black eyes.
Wednesday started with Cathy going to the gym and a visit from a Vector Security technician. Our battery needed to be replaced and a DSL filter needed to be installed for the security system. Later in the morning, Bill went to the hardware store for some conditioner salt and Roundup for the driveway weeds. We drove to Northfield to meet with Jean and Tom Reilly at the Bonefish Grill for dinner. We had great food and conversation.
Thursday morning, Cathy went to the gym. Bill went out for a 5K run and 4 mile walk. After lunch, we both went to Artisan in West Cape May for haircuts. After we got back, Bill headed out for a 10.75 kayak paddle to the fourth jetty at Cape May Point. He had to fight the current on the way back. After dinner, Bill worked on producing a bootable CD for a password problem at Wildwood Linen.
Friday started with Bill arriving at Wildwood Linen at 7:00 AM to work on one of their computers. He was successful and on the road back home by 8:00 AM. Bill met with our neighbor Tom at 8:45 AM to go out fishing on the Delaware Bay between 14 Foot Light and Miah Maul Light. They caught lots of short flounders and Bill lost a big one at the boat by making a mistake. When Bill returned home, he ate a late lunch while Cathy went out for a walk to complement her gym class in the morning. During and after dinner we viewed a B-movie, "8 mm 2" - lots of skin and a thin plot.
Saturday was a bit windy with a north wind. Cathy went to the gym. Bill went out for a windy, choppy, kayak paddle to the canal. After lunch, we went to the local hospital to visit our friend Jim Sosna, who had a collapsed lung. Jim was in a lot of pain, but tried to keep his spirits up. Jim's wife Linda and daughter Kelsey were also visiting. We went out to dinner at Panico's so Bill could carbo-load for his 5K on Sunday. We viewed a great movie, "Goya's Ghosts" on DVR. Javier at his creepiest best. We had been in some of the movie's locations and had spent some time at the Prado in Madrid viewing Goya's works, so we had more than the typical interest in the film.
Sunday was a beautiful day. Bill was up at 5:00 AM and out of the house at 7:00, heading for Stone Harbor and the Jaws 5K. He met Ron Jaworski and had a picture taken with him. Bill's time in the 5K was 27:48 for a pace of 8:52 per mile. Bill guzzled 3 bottles of vitamin water after the race and a bottle of G2 on the drive home. After an early lunch, Cathy and Bill drove to Cape May Point and walked a seven mile loop down to Poverty Beach and back. On the way back, we met and talked with Al and Nancy Trombino, who were sitting on the Promenade. We grilled burgers for dinner. We viewed "The TV Set" on DVR - pretty funny.
