Pics from Tuscany

We spent a few days in Tuscany, visiting both Florence and the medieval city of Sienna.  Driving in Florence was more harrowing than anything that any of us had ever experienced.  Yes Bill, even crazier than Vienna or Toledo.  The only difference was that no one got chased by the cops and the locals didn't make fun of us.  At one point, Paul was ready to just abandon the car in an alley and take the train for the remainder of our trip. Florence is one of our favorite cities (El Duomo, The David, and Ponte Vecchio were real highlights).  We also spent a day exploring the vineyards and back roads of Tuscany.  The food and wine lived up to our sky-high expectations.  We should know, we sampled more than our share of both.  It was a nice indulgence for our tired bodies after hiking in the Alps - nothing like a 2.5 hour lunch to rest our bones. Italy was a wonderful country to visit.  We found the people very friendly and anxious to enjoy "il doce di Niente" (the sweetness of Nothing).  Katie and I both look forward to returning to this area one day - perhaps on  bikes.
