Pics from Kastleruth, Italy

 

We returned from our trip to Switzerland and Italy today...it was a most excellent adventure.  We hiked in Switzerland, visited Florence and Sienna in Tuscany, and then did more hiking in the Dolomites. Attached are some pics from our last stop, a village called Kastleruth in the Dolomites of Northeastern Italy.  For our first night, we slept at a family farm in the village and then climbed up on top of the mountain (the mountain shown in the belltower photo) for our second night.  On top of the mountain we slept in a guesthouse at the summit and enjoyed our first experience of "Alpenglow", the colors that the mountains show off during sunset.  The guesthouse had no heat or hot water, and electricity was limited.  However, we had wonderful views and poofy down comforters to keep us warm. We missed Rachel like crazy and were very happy to see her upon our return. Tom
